Tree planting tips:
- Dig the planting hole about twice as big as the plant root ball
- Plant tree or shrub at same height as it was planted in the containers
- Add some peat moss and or compost to the material taken out of the hole
- Take tree or shrub out of pot
- Place in center of hole
- Check straightness and depth
- Back fill until hole is 1/2 full with soil mixture
- Add 3-5 gallons of water
- Let stand 5 minutes
- Back fill reminder of hole leaving berm around hole to capture water
- Add 2 gallons of water
- Let stand 5 minutes
- Level berm and grade away from tree or shrub for drainage
- Use staking to secure tree after planting
- Staking should not be left more than 2 years
- Do not wrap fastening material too tightly around tree trunk
- Put some form of protection around base of tree to protect from rodents & whipper snippers
